Managing Your Time

Spring break is over, and the final weeks of the semester stretch ahead. The finish line is near, but getting there takes intention. You don’t have to do it perfectly. You just have to do it.

Prioritize Like It’s Survival Mode

Not everything matters equally. Some tasks move the needle, others just fill time.

  • List it out. What has to be done this week? What can wait?
  • Pick your top three. Each day, focus on the three most important tasks.
  • Be ruthless with your time. Say no to whatever  doesn’t serve you right now.

Create a System (Any System!)

A little structure can keep the chaos in check.

  • Time-block your day. Assign tasks to specific time slots.
  • Work in sprints. 25- to 50-minute focused work sessions, then a break.
  • Batch similar tasks. Answer emails in one go instead of all day long.

Manage Stress in Real-Time

Stress is inevitable; suffering is optional.

  • Breathe. Seriously. In for four, hold for four, out for four. Repeat.
  • Move your body. A walk, a stretch, a dance break—it all helps.
  • Sleep like it’s your job. Your brain needs it to function.

Use the “Good Enough” Rule

Perfection is a luxury you don’t have time for.

  • Done is better than perfect. Turn in the paper, send the email, move on.
  • Ask yourself: What’s the simplest way to do this well? Then do that.

Find Moments of Joy

A tough season doesn’t mean joy disappears.

  • Notice small things. A great playlist, good coffee, a sunset.
  • Laugh when you can. Memes, friends, your own ridiculousness.
  • Remind yourself: This is temporary. You will get through it.

The semester’s final stretch is a test of endurance, not perfection. Keep moving forward, take care of yourself, and trust that you’ve got this — because you do.
