Dining Hall 411

Campus dining halls offer a wide range of food options, much broader than what one person could afford at a grocery store, so take advantage when you can.

  • Listen to your body. All you can eat of any type of food may be different than your food experiences previously. Aim for balance and variety. Learn to listen to your body's needs. Pay attention to hunger and fullness cues, and use these cues to guide your food choices and honor your health.
  • Try new foods. The dining halls offer a wide array of foods at each meal and special events showcasing new foods. Plus there's no extra charge for trying something that you end up not enjoying. Add variety to your food habits.
  • Eat fresh foods. Fresh food is expensive when you're buying at a grocery store, so while you swipe in, eat the freshies. Also grab a piece of fresh fruit for later on your way out the door.
  • Use your swipes. Most students have swipes left at the end of the semester, so swipe in for snacks rather than wasting an entire swipe or spending cash elsewhere.
  • See what's on the menu. If you're overwhelmed by the options, do a walk through before you pick up a plate. You can also go to the Carolina Dining Services website to check out all the menus for the day.
  • Find the food trucks on campus and use swipes there too! The where and when of food trucks is all on the dining services website.
