UNC Campus Health has earned reaccreditation from Joint Commission, an independent, evidence-based standards-setting organization that sets the benchmark for safe, high-quality patient care. This accomplishment formally recognizes UNC Campus Health’s ongoing commitment to meeting rigorous performance standards and delivering the safest, highest quality care to its patients.
This reaccreditation continues a proud tradition — UNC Campus Health has been continually accredited by the Joint Commission since 1986. Campus Health is one of only 10 student health centers in the nation to hold this distinction and remains the only Joint Commission-accredited student health center in North Carolina.
UNC Campus Health underwent a rigorous, unannounced onsite survey in January, 2026. During the visit, a team of Joint Commission surveyors assessed compliance across key areas including emergency management, environment of care, infection prevention and control, leadership, medication management, and performance improvement. The successful outcome of the survey is a validation of Campus Health staff’s dedication to continuously meeting nationally developed standards in the day-to-day delivery of safe, high-quality care.
“Joint Commission congratulates UNC Campus Health for achieving accreditation by demonstrating its focus on delivering safe and effective care of the highest quality and value,” says Ken Grubbs, DNP, MBA, RN, Executive Vice President of Accreditation and Certification Operations and Chief Nursing Officer, Joint Commission. “Through the accreditation process, we worked closely with UNC Campus Health to enable and affirm the highest standards of healthcare quality and patient safety. Together, we are elevating care for all patients, and we appreciate UNC Campus Health’s collaboration throughout this process.”
UNC Campus Health remains committed to continuous standards compliance and to maintaining care processes that are safe and meet the highest quality standards. We are proud to bring this level of excellence to the UNC community and will continue working to earn the trust of every patient we serve.
