The goal of the Human Sexuality Program at Counseling and Wellness Services is to enable all students to have access to sexual health information, education, and services. We believe that sexuality is a normal and healthy part of our lives. By providing sexual health information and services in an honest and straightforward manner, we strive to empower students to make informed decisions about their own sexual health. Sexual Health Counseling at Counseling and Wellness Services with Carolina Health Education Counselors (CHECs) The CHECs service at Counseling and Wellness offers free confidential, individual sexual health counseling appointments for students. CHECs will discuss any sexual health topic desired including contraceptive options, safer sex, how to communicate with partners, sexually transmitted infections, HIV/AIDS, sexual decision-making, and sexual assault. The goal of the program is to provide information and teach life skills so that students can learn to be advocates for their own sexual health. You can make individual, couple, or group appointments with CHECs. You may want an appointment with a CHECs if you, your partner, or one of your friends are... - having your first Pap smear exam and don’t know what to expect.
- diagnosed with a sexually transmitted infection and want more information, including how to talk to a partner.
- considering becoming sexually active and want information on birth control and/or safer sex and STIs.
- want to learn how to do breast or testicular self-exams.
- have any other sexual health questions
Any student(s) can make a free appointment with CHECs. Call the Counseling and Wellness main phone number listed in the "Contact Us" menu found above. Please notify the scheduler if more than one person will come to the appointment. |
