At Carolina, a Healthy Heel is anyone who makes everyday choices to support their own well-being—and the well-being of our campus community. That means you.
Healthy Heels is also the name of our campus-wide health and wellness initiative, a collaborative effort between the staff at:
Together, we’re here to help you thrive.
Here’s what we believe – and what you can expect from us.
Health is a journey. Wellness looks different for everyone – and it takes effort. But that effort is worth it.
Everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive. Many factors – identities, cultures, finances, experiences – shape health. We’re here to create welcoming spaces and conversations that support you.
Health goals vary by individual. We’ll support what’s already working for you and share new ideas to explore.
Community matters. Your environment influences your health. That’s why we focus on systems and surroundings, not just individual choices.
Everything is connected. Stress, sleep, relationships, substance use – it’s all intertwined. We take a holistic approach.
Your health supports your success. Healthy students learn better, focus longer, and enjoy college more. That’s why we’re here.
Science and research help. We rely on research-based strategies to help you make informed choices.
- Health comes in every size. Wellness isn’t about what you look like – it’s about how you live and feel.
- Sexuality is normal and healthy. We provide honest and easy-to-understand sexual health information and services.
- We can prevent violence together. We help Tar Heels understand the root causes of violence, and how to build a safer, more respectful campus.
You have access to great care through Campus Health, CAPS, Campus Rec and Student Wellness – and much of it is already paid for you in your student fees. Never delay a visit if you’re in need – we want to see you succeed!
We need your help.
You are a vital part of the Carolina wellness community. Here’s how you can get involved:
