Conveniently located on the third floor of UNC Student Stores, this pharmacy provides a quick stop for students, faculty and staff to pick up a prescription and purchase over the counter health items. The Student Stores Pharmacy is open M-F from 9am - 6pm and Saturdays 10am-2pm. 

Student Stores Pharmacy FAQs 

Who can have prescriptions filled at Student Stores Pharmacy?

Faculty and staff of the University can fill prescriptions at Student Stores Pharmacy as well as any patient eligible for services at Campus Health.

Do you accept insurance cards? 

Yes.  Present your current prescription benefits insurance card to the pharmacy when you have your prescription filled.  Student Stores Pharmacy and Campus Health Pharmacy accept almost all insurance plans, including the Student Blue, RA/TA, Post Doc, and State Health plans.

Will Student Stores Pharmacy fill my prescription(s)?

Yes, if the medication is on the Campus Health formulary. A formulary is a continually updated selection of drugs that reflects the current clinical judgment of the CHS professional staff. Student Stores Pharmacy only fills prescriptions that are written for drugs that are on the Campus Health formulary. If your prescription is not on the formulary, the drug will be evaluated to determine if it will be added to the formulary

Can I get a flu shot at Student Stores Pharmacy?

Yes, flu shots are available at Student Stores Pharmacy on a walk-in basis to faculty, staff, and student.  Be sure to bring your medical insurance card. Medicare plans are not accepted at the pharmacy.

Can I transfer a prescription to Student Stores Pharmacy? 

Yes, most prescriptions can be transferred to Student Stores Pharmacy providing the medication is on our formulary. Tell us the name and telephone number of the pharmacy where your prescription was last filled; we will call that pharmacy and transfer your remaining refills to our pharmacy. If your prescription is not on the formulary, you may request that we evaluate the drug to determine if it can be added to the formulary.

How do I pay for my prescription?

The Student Stores Pharmacy accepts cash, Visa and MasterCard, check, electronic payment (e.g. Apple Pay) or UNC One Card. Students may also place the charge on their UNC Student Account.

Does Student Stores Pharmacy sell pseudoephedrine products and over-the-counter drugs? 

Yes.  Student Stores Pharmacy carries a selection of over-the-counter drugs at a low price.  Pseudoephedrine products are located behind-the-counter – ask the pharmacy for the pseudoephedrine product you wish to purchase and bring photo identification.
