Counseling and Psychological Services provides medication evaluation and management services for UNC students who have paid the Campus Health Fee.
Medication evaluation - often called "med eval" - is a meeting with a psychiatrist who will provide recommendations for psychiatric medications if necessary.
CAPS seeks to provide medication management to as many students as possible in a timely manner. Medication management is the monitoring of medications a patient takes to confirm that the patient is complying with a medication regimen, while also ensuring the patient is avoiding potentially dangerous drug interactions and other complications. In some cases it is determined that the student’s needs are better served by providing a referral to a provider in the community.
