Body Image Support Group

"You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love & affection." Buddha

  • How much time do you spend thinking about your body and your appearance?
  • Do you ever find yourself comparing your looks to others around you or in the media?
  • Do you often try different dieting or exercise strategies to lose weight?

Open to any student struggling with self-esteem as related to body image and comparing self to others. In this group members will have a chance to explore their feelings about themselves and their bodies in a supportive environment.  We will work to explore the way you think about yourself and to feel more confident with who you are. Using experiential activities, this group will explore cultural, familial, and social factors that contribute to poor body image.

Meets Wednesdays, 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm. This group is closed for Fall 2017.

Facilitated by Martine Luntz, Psy.D., Elizabeth Christensen, Ph. D. and Alyssa Fredricks, MS

This group requires an initial walk-in visit to CAPS (visit anytime between 9:00 am - 12:00 pm or 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm Monday - Thursday or 9:30 - 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm on Fridays). The therapist will help you schedule a brief screening interview to see that the group will adequately address your reasons for coming to the group.
