Alain Aguilar, a native of Columbus Ohio, began as Carolina's head athletic trainer for the men's soccer program in 2008. He has helped them get to four College Cup appearances, including a National Championship in 2011. Prior to working for UNC he served as Head Athletic Trainer at Saint Augustine's College for all sports including the Men's and Women's Track and Field teams which won several individual and team conference and national championships.

Aside from Men's Soccer coverage, he is a lecturer in the Department of Exercise and Sport Science and also serves as the Director in the Fitness Professional Concentration. His teaching focuses on theory and application of strength training and conditioning for fitness professionals and performance enhancement in athletic populations.

Alain has a masters degree in Exercise and Sport Science with a specialization in Athletic Training from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2004-2006). During that time he worked as a graduate assistant with the Volleyball, Men's Lacrosse, and Fencing teams. His undergraduate degree is from The Ohio State University where he was an Athletic Training Student (2001-2004). Aside from being a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) he is a Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES), Certified Personal Trainer (CPT), and Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. He is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. In addition, he has completed the basic training module for the Graston Technique and is a Certified Biomechanics Trainer through Intelligent Training Systems.

He is a native of Columbus, Ohio. He, his wife Jennifer, and their sons Coby and Ethan reside in Durham. In his down time he enjoys spending time with his family and participating in his church.
