Page 2 of 5 Other Health Insurance and Courtesy Insurance Filing Campus Health Services is an accredited health care organization and its services are generally covered by insurance. You will be asked to present your insurance card at each visit if you opt to have your charges filed with your primary insurance company. Please note we are not a Medicare/Medicaid provider. We are also unable to file international insurance. CHS will electronically file your insurance claim(s). This does not include verifying eligibility or benefits. Therefore, it is your responsibility to follow-up with your insurance company for all unpaid claims. The total charge will be transferred to your student account at the Office of Student Accounts and University Receivables in the Student and Academic Services Building (SASB) North which is your responsibility to pay. Some insurance companies will send the reimbursement directly to the policy holder. However, some may send payment to CHS. If CHS receives the payment, the check will be forwarded to the Office of Student Accounts and University Receivables to be applied to your student account. Additionally, you may pay for services at checkout and no insurance will be filed. If you are enrolled in the UNC-Chapel Hill Medical Insurance Plan, called Student Blue, your charges will be filed for you electronically from CHS to Blue Cross and Blue Shield of NC (BCBSNC). According to the benefits of the plan, nearly all charges are covered. Only charges not covered by the plan will be transferred to your student account at the Office of Student Accounts and University Receivables in the Student and Academic Services Building (SASB) North. Some insurance plans require plan enrollees to use certain providers in order to pay claims. Students who participate in such plans (i.e. Health Maintenance Organizations) should be aware of insurance limitations before utilizing Campus Health Services. - HMOs
Some HMOs do not offer out-of-area coverage for medical care. To avoid charges that are not reimbursable, please check with your HMO before utilizing Campus Health Services. - Preferred Providers
Some insurance plans limit coverage to certain preferred providers. If Campus Health Services is not a preferred provider under your plan, charges for services at Campus Health Services may not be covered by your insurance. To avoid charges that are not reimbursable, please check with your insurance company before utilizing Campus Health Services if you anticipate the need for services that may require additional costs that are typically covered as benefits of a health insurance plan. Campus Health Services is not part of UNC Hospitals or UNC Health Care. - Pharmacy Drug Benefits
Many insurance plans offer a prescription card benefit program. Campus Health Services Pharmacy participates in most of these plans. - Medicaid
Campus Health Services is not a Medicaid provider. To avoid charges, students who have Medicaid coverage should seek medical care with a Medicaid provider. - Tricare
Campus Health Services is not a Tricare provider for medical services. However, Tricare Insurance is currently honored for CHS formulary prescription benefits. - Dental Insurance
