The goal of this program is to help student survivors of sexual assaults regain a sense of personal control over their life and the decisions they make. NOTE! Students are advised to contact Campus Health Services as soon as possible after a sexual assault! Campus Health Services (CHS) offers confidential and comprehensive care for the survivor of a sexual assault. CHS has several Nurse Practitioners trained as Forensic Nurse Examiners on staff. Forensic Nurse Examiners are specially trained to discuss options of care and reporting, as well as the collection of evidence if the survivor requests. Appropriate medical care including the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of sexually transmitted infection and pregnancy is provided. During the times that CHS is closed or the Forensic Nurse Examiners are not available, the UNC Hospital emergency department provides the same services and the survivor is referred back to CHS for follow up.
