Who Can Order X-Rays

Patients must be seen by a Campus Health Services provider to have x-rays requested. If a patient wants to have films made at CHS but has an order from an outside provider, the patient should call CHS Radiology at 966-6567 to discuss the procedure for transferring their radiology order.

NOTE! Campus Health Radiographers DO NOT interpret the films.
Campus Health Services has radiologists to interpret the films.

Charges
There is a charge per study (regardless of the number of exposures made) which includes the fee for the radiologist's services.

Insurance
Radiology charges are covered in full by the UNC Student Medical Insurance Plan through Blue Cross and Blue Shield, known as Student Blue, and the claim will be processed by Campus Health Services. Please review our Insurance information for details.

X-Rays and Pregnancy
For information on x-rays and pregnancy go to Health Physics Society Fact Sheet. If you have questions contact our Campus Health Services radiographer at 966-6567.

Copies of films
If copies of radiographic studies are needed by the patient, the radiographers at Campus Health Service will be happy to assist the patient in obtaining them.  A  Release of Information form should be completed by the patient and given to the radiographers.  The radiographs will then be located and copies will be arranged.  Some charges could apply for these copies.  Time sensitive requests should be made in person in Radiology at Campus Health Services during regular business hours.
